Book Review: An Eye for an Earl

Updated: Apr 18, 2021

An Eye for an Earl is an unusual Regency romance – in that its MFC is a courtesan and there is plenty of smut mixed in with the romance. So if you’re looking for sweet/clean, this is not the book for you. But if you’re looking for sexy, it’s definitely worth a read – especially as the smut is all well-written and plot-relevant.

It’s the story of Isabelle, who was very wronged by her family, given the uncle who raped her and the father who kicked her out for “lying” about it and “tempting” men. Thrown out onto the streets, she eventually landed on her feet as a high-class courtesan…who’s now pulled back into the world of her family due to her father’s impending death. And eventually, his actual death and her inheritance.

The MMC is Francis, who inherited the estate next door, and finds himself drawn into Isabelle’s family drama. And into her orbit.

He’s quite a gentleman, and she is a character – and very much the leader in their relationship. Particularly the sexual part.

There was amazing chemistry, and their romance practically sizzled on the page.

But of course, it wouldn’t be a romance without a villain – in this case, Gabriel, who helped Isabelle when she was on the streets and wants her to be permanently his. Something she isn’t willing to allow. After all, she’s her own person and makes her own choices.

Ultimately, I really enjoyed the book and happily look forward to more in the series.

So if you’re looking for a sexy historical romance, this is definitely one to try.

Therefore, it gets
